What is in Mascara ?

Mascara includes a carbon black or iron oxide pigment to make the eyelashes darker. It also includes a thickening wax or oils like lanolin, mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum, castor oil, carnauba wax, and candelilla wax.

There are two different types, anhydrous formulas with no water, or emulsions with water and oil. Anhydrous is waterproof and makes it less likely to smudge or flake off, but is harder to take off. An emulsion is easier on the lashes, but is more likely to smudge or flake but is easier to take off
